Embedding Aboriginal perspectives is distinct from celebrating cultural diversity. It is a conscious decision to acknowledge Aboriginal peoples as the first peoples of Australia, and ensure that their stories are told in our school. It means that Aboriginal students will see themselves represented in school resources and their culture celebrated routinely. It means that non-Aboriginal students will have positive experiences with Aboriginal people and learn to respect and value their cultural knowledge.
Some strategies used to embed Aboriginal perspectives at Rosebank:
- Annual Welcome to Country conducted by a local Elder
- Celebrating NAIDOC Day
- Ensuring that Aboriginal people and culture are represented in school resources, programs and activities
